Why Donate to MBT?

Here at Metropolitan Ballet of Tacoma, we believe that the experience of dance should be available to everyone. We have never turned away anyone due to financial concern. At this time, MBT covers $2,810 per month to support our scholarship students — this is approximately 20% of our enrolled dancers. These scholarships are not funded by regular tuition. Your generous donations go directly to support young dancers so that they may study ballet without financial stress. â€‹â€‹â€‹

In addition to our growing scholarship program, your donations allow us to bring in guest teachers and choreographers to MBT. This year, we are delighted to welcome Casey Herd and Gregory Dawson to our studio. Casey Herd is an internationally renowned former ballet dancer and founder of Ballet Rising who taught at our 2024 Senior Boot Camp and returned to teach a master class to our Company Division in January 2025. Gregory Dawson, former Alonzo King LINES Ballet dancer and founder of dawsondancesf, is returning to MBT for the first time in many years to work with our Company Divison dancers on his piece for our Spring Repertoire. Not only do we pay guest artists for their time and expertise, but in many cases we must cover their travel fees as well. It is an incredible opportunity to be able to learn from such gifted artists!

Your generous donations also allow us to purchase, rent, and create beautiful scenery pieces and backdrops for our performances including The Nativity Ballet, Spring Repertoire, and Alice in Wonderland. The Nativity Ballet specifically uses all custom scenery, and we rely heavily on donations since it is a free event. Donations allow us to keep improving The Nativity Ballet while keeping tickets free.

Thank you for your generous donations! Donations can be made online via PayPal, or in person by visiting our office. Our MBT family is grateful for your support.
