Why Donate to MBT?
Here at Metropolitan Ballet of Tacoma, we believe that the experience of dance should be available to everyone. We have never turned away anyone due to financial concern. At this time, MBT covers $2,985 per month to support our scholarship students — this is approximately 15% of our enrolled dancers. These scholarships are not funded by regular tuition. Your generous donations go directly to support young dancers so that they may study ballet without financial stress.
In addition to our growing scholarship program, your generous donations allow us to host our upcoming performances including the Company Division's Think Pink, The Little Mermaid, Corpo Season 3, and The Nativity Ballet. The Nativity Ballet specifically uses all custom scenery, and we rely heavily on donations since it is a free event. Donations allow us to keep improving The Nativity Ballet while keeping tickets free. We hope to raise awareness and funds for both our performing groups this year — the Company Division (made up of advanced students at MBT) and Corpo, our new professional company. Many of the Corpo artists are connected to MBT as teachers, choreographers, and staff.
We are hoping that by highlighting our Corpo artists this year, we will be able to educate you on the importance of your role in sustaining them. Someday, it's possible that your dancer will return after completing any university or higher education, to dance once again. We have found that there is definitely a need to offer performance opportunities beyond the student level. We are busy planning Corpo Season 3, and we hope you will take note of our upcoming performances. We hope that you will save the date for, and purchase tickets to both the Company Division's Think Pink performance, and Corpo Season 3!
Upcoming Performances:
Think Pink March 27, 28 at Silas High School
The Little Mermaid (all MBT dancers!) June 12, 13 at PLU
